Oral medicine is the specialty of dentistry that is concerned with medical aspects of dentistry & the primary diagnosis & treatment of oral diseases that do not respond to conventional dental or maxillofacial surgical procedures .The practice of oral medicine will provide optimal health to all people through the diagnosis & management of oral diseases. It is also concerned with oral health care of medically compromised patients & with diagnosis & nonsurgical management of medically related disorders or conditions affecting the oral & maxillofacial region .Undergraduate Students receive predoctoral training in this field from third year, whereas a complex patient requires a clinician with specialized training in these fields.

Oral Radiology deals with imaging of maxillofacial structures for the evidence of disease & disorders with conventional & advanced radiographic techniques.
The department has well equipped separate sections of Oral Medicine & Radiology for both UG & PG programme.The radiology section is equipped with conventional & digital radiographic units for both intra oral & extra oral radiographs .The department is also provided with intra oral camera.

The Department is nurtured under the guidance of Prof.Dr.G.V.Ramachandra Reddy. Professor & Head. He completed MDS from Govt Dental College Bangalore. Has about 10 Years of U.G & P.G teaching experience & has been a U.G. & P.G examiner for RGUHS & NTR Health University. Many National & State publications are creditated to his name. He is a life member of IAOMR & IDA, Served as an EC member & regd office secretary of IAOMR. EC member, IDA Karnataka State Branch. & Bangalore Branch. Associated with organizing International, National & State level Conferences.
